Mini Holiday & boat ride.

 The long weekend of 2nd September, I was invited to stay at one of the Dame who I met at happy hour a few weeks ago.

Carol Gould and her husband Mark welcomed me into their beautiful home for the long weekend on Gibson Island. This island is so beautiful, all the houses are huge and stunning - it even has got its own harbour with all types of boats/yachts!!

After arriving on the first day on Gibson Island, Carol gave me a quick short tour around one side of the island before heading back home to meet everyone and heading down to the harbour.

But first, I wanted to check out my bedroom again - it was beautiful, so cosy and I had my own bathroom - I never stayed at someone's home with my own bathroom before.

THE BOAT RIDE... ⛵

Carol and her family kindly took me on an amazing boat ride - it was my first time on a boat :)


This was the highlight of my trip, heading out to the Chesapeake Bay to see other boats/yachts and the big cargo ships that are anchored. There were some amazing Lighthouses along the way.


Carol was telling me that there are a couple of them that are being renovated into small homes but knowing that the sea has got some restrictions.












The Chesapeake Bay has got over 30 lighthouses in the watershed! That's an unbelievable number of lighthouses! If I had the money I would've bought one and made it into a sweet holiday home.

Here's me with Carol and Maura. And on the right, There's Carol's son with Maura and his two friends from elementary school - everyone was so sweet to me and asked me questions about my trip to the USA and life. I felt more welcome with them around 😊




PART OF THE FAMILY...


Finally, before I headed back to my apartment, Carol and her husband asked me if I could engrave my name on their family table - it's tradition.


It also means that I am part of their family already too! Can tell that I will be back here before I know it!

Travelling DaY

On 11th August, I left the UK for the biggest trip of my life to the USA - this is a huge step in my life because this time I am travelling on my own for two and half months. I know that I had to do this by myself someday and it's here! I arrived at Edinburgh Airport (EDI) at 10:30am, checked my suitcase and said 'See you later' to my amazing parents who made me cry at the airport! Thanks, Mum! Made it back home!

Made It Home!!! I am officially back home with my family, all unpacked - it was like the living room exploded with all of my things. But wanna laugh... my suitcase was full of books instead of bringing clothes home! I was so emotional when I got home as I wanted to be home after a couple of days of being at multiple airports. So lovely to be back in my own bed too! Even had a quiet, shy reaction from my dog as she wasn't sure who I was until I spoke to her again!

Day 5: Finally Settled In!

Had my first night sleeping in my permanent apartment - the apartment is very nice, cosy and clean. First-night sleeping was a little bit scary as I'd come out of a home where I usually stay with someone - This time I was so scared because I thought something would happen when I was sleeping but it was okay apart from getting freighted by a siren of some vehicle. I will keep you all posted on how I am doing 👍😊 Huge thank you to Krista and her friend Martin for helping me settle in with all of my bags and food shopping (They call it groceries in America) as I would have not done this without you! 😊 When we stopped by the apartment I could not believe that I have got the most beautiful cathedral right across from me on the corner. And I was told that there is the Washington Monument right around the corner from my street again which is known as the centrepiece of Mount Vernon! (Pictures coming soon).
