New York, New York! 🎶
So sorry that I have been so quiet over the last couple of weeks as I have been busy working and taking multiple weekend trips!
On the weekend of 16th October, my sponsor and his family invited and gave me a lifetime trip to NYC as part of their family trip - my sponsor wanted me to experience what NYC is like before I leave to return to the UK!
The first night (16th) we arrived in New York by 1 pm, checked into our very posh hotel then went off for a walk through Central Park and went by our very first museum of the day!
Central Park
Central Park was absolutely stunning this fall! All the leaves turned into beautiful colours and the skyline of NYC is one of the best views you have ever seen in your life!!
We walked around the park for maybe 30 mins or so, grabbed food then headed to The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the day before heading down to Broadway to see a show.
When we first arrived in New York, we checked ourselves in for our rooms then we went for a walk through Central Park to The Met which was unbelievable! I was told that you need to have more than one day at the Met as the museum goes on forever! I didn't take a lot of pictures because I was so into the museum!
On the way out, William (sponsor) wanted to take me to his ancestor's family home! It was about 10 10-minute walk from the Met, it's a beautiful building and he was telling me that he remembered his childhood there. He remembers going there every week for breakfast in the conservatory.
His childhood home was in the middle of renovation as it needed a freshening up. The mansion was absolutely gorgeous and I am honoured to learn about William's family history at the same time!
Broadway Show!
Later that night, my sponsor, his wife and I met up with one of his daughters with her French partner at a restaurant before we went to see a show.
William (sponsor) wanted to take me to see a play with everyone else but the problem was that the show didn't have any closed captions for me to read from a device. So he decided to take me to a proper Broadway show - The Music Man starring the famous HUGH JACKMAN AND SUTTON FOSTER! Both are my all-time favourite actors/singers in the world! I knew the name of the show but never realised that it was them in this!
The Music Man was the best show I have ever gone to in NYC - will never forget this moment!
I will be definitely coming back, maybe with my mum too as she would love to see The Met and a Broadway show!
Next Day (17th)..
I had this whole day to myself - I got to decide what I wanted to do whilst my sponsor and his family went to see an opera!
From the top of my head - I knew I wanted to see the Soloman R. Guggenheim Museum because this building was the very first place that I studied in college, thanks to Karen Colville! I studied so hard on this building, the architecture and the design of it really intrigued me!
This is how I learnt about this museum!
Of course Karen, I still have the photos from NC class six years ago! Sadly I do not have the models anymore!
After the Guggenheim, I went back to The Met to view more of the rooms as there are over 2 million pieces of artefacts in that museum! You can spend days and days in this museum because there is no way that you can view everything in just one day!
QUEENS NIGHT MARKET:
Later that night, I was honoured to participate in the Queen's night market with William's other daughter Stormi, her husband John and their most precious daughter!
The Queens Night Market happens every Saturday from April through to the end of October! https://queensnightmarket.com/
This market has got all types of food from all over the world, music /going on and everyone dancing. This night was the most fun night I experienced! I have to say multiple foods were absolutely delicious, I had my very first crab bite and that was gooood!!!!
This market was at the perfect location as well because it's right by the airport - LaGuardia Airport: LGA where you can get some amazing views of planes landing and taking off!

Final Day... (18th)
On my final day in NYC - my sponsor made a reservation in the morning to visit the Whitney Museum to see Edward Hopper's beautiful artworks. This museum is located on the edge of the Hudson River. But before we went there, we stopped by somewhere to see someone!
We stopped at a place called The Battery where you can see the Statue of Liberty from the distance!!! This is where you would get a Statue of Liberty cruise if you wanted to get a close-up view of her!
Where's the Statue of Liberty?! |
It was so far away! |
EDWARD HOPPER EXHIBITION:
This exhibition was the far most interesting one I have ever been to as it is mostly drawings of buildings and paintings. Along with some old notes and letters from the late 1900s!
