Day 7 & * Exploring the Neighbourhood
GUESS WHAT?! I HAVE BEEN HERE FOR A WEEK ALREADY?! HOW CRAZY IS THAT?!
DAY 7:
On the night of Day 7, I got the opportunity to meet my sponsor William Garner after two years of online contact. I met him on the day of my scholarship conference in 2020 at Dunfermline Halbeath Fife College Campus with Abigail (another winner) and Lyn for lunch. We all had a lovely chat and talked about what we would love to do and why when visiting America!
Here's our article from two years ago with William and Abigail.

During dinner on the 19th of August, we talked about how I was getting on and what I had been doing during the first week of the trip! So we talked for a while then the conversation was diverted to talking about our family and friends. And then Lucy appeared, Krista could not make it unfortunately because she had so much paperwork to do before taking a vacation. But, William and I met her the very next morning at a really nice coffee shop for breakfast.
William was so sweet and he gave me four books based on:
Two Baltimore Railroad books
His daughter and son-in-law Queens Night Market Book
His friend Tom Mayes "Why Old Places Matter?!".
The books are amazing, I can't wait to read each of them before the end of my trip along with the Mount Clare House Museum books.
Thank you so much, William!!
DAY 8:
After the morning of coffee/breakfast with William and Krista, Krista and I chatted for a while in the coffee shop before we went back home for a couple of hours. We were talking about Mount Clare House on what I needed to do for them first.
So we went back home to do some work and I started on the 3D design for the building, difficult to put the plans together - so I took a break from that. Then Krista invited me to visit a yarn industrial building called Neighbourhood Fibre Co. where I bought myself some yarn and knitting needles to make a blanket for myself to cuddle on the plane heading home in October. As you walk into their building, you can see people making yarn, then go upstairs into a yarn shop.
So I bought myself some yarn and a bag that represents the shop along with some knitting needles.
I am hoping to have a cosy blanket made for my flight back home and use it in my office where I will be launching my business officially after a long delay.
I'm turning into Krista! We both love yarn and knitting - it's so therapeutic to us!
After we visited the yarn shop, we went by Dooby's for a nice cool drink as it was boiling that day!
We even got an amazing view of the Washington Monument from our seats, and we went for a proper walk around the neighbourhood.
