Historic Sotterly

Carol has been the best! She arranged a tour at Sotterley Plantation so I can get more ideas for Mount Clare and look at their slave's cabin because I was told that Mount Clare used to have a slaves cabin and now it's long gone!

SLAVES CABIN

If I remember correctly, this cabin held 18/19 slaves under one roof. This cabin was a bad condition for them, they were all jammed into one room - when I was in it, the ceiling was low and it was completely dusty!

SOTTERLEY PLANTATION HOUSE

The interior of the Sotterley Plantation house was absolutely stunning! This is something that we may need to think about in the future because it gives us ideas on how to display items and let people walk around seeing all this.

The staircase was the most far my favourite thing in that house, because of the craftsmanship and the details on it!

This house has got a red room, green room and a dining room. We were not able to go upstairs to view as this was a short time and we had to head down to meet another one of the dames for lunch.
