Day 13: Climbed These Stairs...

I caught up with Krista for a coffee and chatted for a couple of hours as I haven't seen her in a good few days. She took a vacation this week and next week. She has been keeping herself occupied by painting her very own house, and renovating her living room!

Loved what she has done with her house - I'm considering thinking about getting a house like hers back home in Scotland soon (maybe)..

WASHINGTON MONUMENT, MOUNT VERNON!

Then later in the afternoon, I'd decided to climb the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon, this place was literally just around the corner from my apartment. 5-minute walk at the most.

George Washington Monument was the most beautiful piece of architecture I have ever seen!

The view of this monument was absolutely perfect! There were some stunning statues sitting around the park - the monument itself was sitting in the middle of a roundabout and the park is just across the road from it.

There will be more information about it below..

I CLIMBED 249 STEPS TO THE TOP!

Climbing those stairs was fun and a bit scary because when you go further up, it gets darker and darker but when you reach the top - it has got the most amazing view of all of Baltimore!

I stopped at every flight where there would be a huge step to stop on and catch my breath, I was in a flow with my climbing because I knew I was determined that I would reach the top!

On my way out (with Jelly legs 🤣), they had the most amazing exhibit space where they had a touch screen that would show you the timeline of the monument the architect's name and the date of when it was built...

** You can even take a virtual tour online: **

I loved every part of this monument, the exhibition, the statues and obviously reaching the top of the monument! I will definitely be coming back before I depart for Scotland in October/November!

And on my way home, I walked through this beautiful park that is just across the road from the monument! They have also got some amazing statues I have ever seen! Would love a replica of them for my garden back in Scotland!

They even had some beautiful architectural buildings surrounding the monument, I was not able to take photos of each one but here are some. I am in love with them all! All the details and carvings are unbelievable on these buildings!

More to come! Have a lovely day! :)
