Hampton National Historic Site

On 10th October, I stopped by Hampton National Historic Site to look around the beautiful house and slave cabins. My family friend in Baltimore Gayle - she told me that it was only 10 minutes away from her home - I didn't realise that it was so close, so she offered to see it before heading back to my apartment!

On 10th October, I stopped by Hampton National Historic Site to look around the beautiful house and slave cabins. My family friend in Baltimore Gayle - she told me that it was only 10 minutes away from her home and offered to see it before heading back to Mount Vernon.

This place has two different sites - one with the Hampton Mansion with stables on the south side and the slaves/workers' cabins on the North side. They are completely separate because I was told that The Ridgely family didn't want to see all the workers on their side so they sent them away from the house. (Shown below)

This was very interesting for me because the worker's land with all the cabins was completely different because it has multiple cabins. They have a dairy farm, mule stables, corn field, worker's quarters, Long house Granary and Lower house. Explained on this map and picture (below).
