Road trip & New York again...

Image
On 24th October, it was an important day of my trip because my sponsor William made contact with a couple of places that I needed to see before I left the US and also I was honoured to meet the Exchange Committee chair & former president of the St Andrews Society of New York, Samuel Abernathy! Pennsbury Manor https://www.pennsburymanor.org/ Our first visit was to a house museum named 'Pennsbury Manor' because, before COVID, I first applied to work at this place for the scholarship before it was closed. I applied for The Keystone Internship - they were thrilled to have me working with them but it was all closed. I was looking forward to working with them a couple of years ago because I did so much research on them beforehand, and now before I came across here, they were not looking for an intern to work with them; that is why my sponsor found Mount Clare. During the visit to Pennsbury Manor, I introduced myself to the Director - Douglas Miller to seek some new client work...

Baltimore National Aquarium

This was my last weekend (21st - 23rd Oct) of being free on this trip before I got busy with work and headed home in a couple of weeks' time - so I decided to spend time with my family friend - Gayle. My mother always told me about Baltimore National Aquarium, so I went and treated Gayle as a thank-you for looking after me on this trip. When I walked into the Aquarium - I wasn't expecting this at all. It had the most beautiful mini waterful with fishies in it! It felt so cool and I felt like I was somewhere else in the world with this! When we walked into the building - the first thing they had was the family photo booth - so Gayle and I have some amazing hilarious photos to keep as memories! Here's a couple 😁🤣 With Turtles With Puffins I personally love the photo with all the cute Puffins!!

Meeting Gayle's family

At the same weekend as the Aquarium, I spent my very last time spending with Gayle and her family before I left for Scotland. So I went to see Gayle's grandchildren playing soccer in La Plata, which was an hour-and-a-half drive down past Washington. It was worth it though because I love seeing kids play football! It was such a beautiful day with a blue sky(!) to see them play, was cheering on them so hard. We went to see the granddaughter play in the morning but we just got there at the very end of the game. And we had lunch with them before they had another tournament in the afternoon! I had the best time of my life visiting and meeting them - going to miss them so much! Looking forward to seeing them next year

Mount Clare Video Draft #1

Last week, I finally finished all the development designs of the house from 8 different years! Shown in my last blog with the years dated. I finally got to the part where I had to create a video for Mount Clare with the important things included for the open day which is in 3 weeks' time. The brief for this is: Captions along the video House timeline Slaves Cabin Timeline Development Plans Background Music Here is the first draft of the video: I have already discussed this with my bosses Krista, Lucy and Carol (one of the dames) and I have a few things to fix before then. I want to make it perfect for them before I leave as I know that they are keen to have something completely different than any other organisation.
